What Is Ounce Gold and How Is It Tracked?

The meaning of ounce gold, its relationship with gram gold and the global indicators affecting its price.

What does ounce gold mean?

Ounce gold is the dollar price of gold in international markets. The measure is a troy ounce, equal to about 31.1035 grams, and is commonly shown as XAU/USD.

Relationship with gram gold

Gram gold in Türkiye is driven by both ounce gold and USD/TRY. If ounce gold rises while the rate is stable, gram gold usually rises. A higher USD/TRY rate can limit or reverse a fall in ounce gold.

Approximate formula: Ounce price × USD/TRY ÷ 31.1035. Actual buy and sell prices may differ because of spreads, purity, workmanship and provider pricing.

Indicators affecting ounce gold

How should it be tracked?

Track the price with candlesticks across different periods. For daily moves, watch news and the economic calendar; for longer horizons, watch the main trend and rate cycle. Gram-gold investors should follow USD/TRY alongside ounce gold.
